Joshua Romo brings five years of experience to the podium. He is an aspiring conductor currently pursuing a B.M in Music Education with a choral emphasis at Azusa Pacific University. He was involved in choirs since middle school, which led him to decide to pursue a career in choral music. He served as the assistant conductor of the Gabrielino High School Chamber Singers for two years where he conducted multiple performances including a spring performance at Disney’s California Adventure.
While in his collegiate studies, he has been part of multiple ensembles offered by the university, from the Chamber Singers to the contemporary Acapella groups. Aside from his choral ensembles, he is also a percussionist, and appeared as a guest conductor in a performance with the university’s Symphonic Band. Of his ensembles, he serves as the student conductor and music librarian of the Men’s Chorale, Bass section leader for the University Choir, and music librarian of the Symphonic band. Outside of the university, he is the artistic director and conductor of the community ensemble, the “Rose Singers,” an instructor of the children’s choir at the Azusa Conservatory of Music and is the Associate Conductor and Licensing Specialist in the elite vocal ensemble, Vocal Affinity based in Rexburg Idaho. He has participated in conducting workshops and masterclasses including working with Dr. Joshua Habermann and was recently chosen to be one of the conductors for the Western American Choral Director’s Association (WACDA) undergraduate conducting masterclass with Dr. Charlene Archibeque for the 2022 regional conference. Joshua is an avid believer in always refining one’s skills. He is currently under the tutelage and mentorship of accomplished conductor, David Lozano Torres. Along with his conducting studies, he has served under Mr. Torres as the assistant conductor of the Los Angeles based, Echo Luminos.
