My name is Kerrilyn {Ker-ee-lin} Andersen. I am a musician, teacher, idealist, and an explorer. In the beginning, piano was my first love, which quickly grew into violin, voice and guitar. For, as most musicians will affirm, it’s rare to settle for just one instrumental niche. From then on, I became heavily immersed in DEMPTA competitions, Guilde, and All-State ensembles that continued to nourish my musical aptitude. This led me to research music therapy, writing, and piano and teaching voice lessons.
Though young, above all else, I become! I believe that one of the greatest opportunities given to us in life is to become. We can become different through things we seek and learn, and even more so as we help others as well. My talents include vocal pedagogy, composition, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, innovation, and an unbreakable sense of humor.
I come from a family of six children -five girls and one boy, the youngest (who is spoiled rotten). We have happily settled all across the country from Utah to Missouri to Idaho. They have been my number one supporters from day one, and inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a music teacher. Some things that I love the very most include singing in church choirs, eating ice cream, reading books, and writing.
I am in my 5th semester at BYU-Idaho in the Music Education major, with an emphasis in Chorale ensembles. As I continue this exciting journey into the realm of Chorale music, I look forward to all the opportunities I have been blessed with to continue to understand and explore the power of music.
