Abbey Comer, a North Carolina native, is the second oldest of 4 children. She is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Music Education at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Following her expected graduation in the spring of 2021, she plans to pursue a Masters Degree in Choral Conducting.
Abbey is an avid musician and has participated in school, church, and community choirs since the age of 8, when she heard her church choir sing “ Go Tell It on the Mountain” at a Christmas party. She knew she wanted to be a part of what she heard, and hasn’t stopped singing since! She has performed under the direction of Eric Whitacre, Z. Randall Stroope, and more. Throughout her life, Abbey has loved being challenged. She loves being a part of Vocal Affinity because of the constant challenge it provides, as well as the unity and friendship shared between its members.
When she isn’t practicing or at rehearsal, Abbey enjoys making greeting cards, roaming around craft stores, and trying new recipes. She also volunteers regularly with the Idaho Falls Symphony. In addition to her formal schooling, she studies conducting and is the conductor of Chamber Singers, a chamber choir in Rexburg, Idaho. Abbey believes in that music is a great unifying force. It is something that everyone, despite differing on anything and everything else, has in common. It has the power to change hearts, and in turn, change the world.
